Restaurateur and chef Tommi Tuominen will pilot the new restaurant that is being planned for the office property at Kanavaranta 1 and is estimated to open in spring 2024.

The premises of Kanavaranta 1 have been modernized with respect to history and Aalto’s handiwork to meet the present day’s office space requirements. The lunch and dinner restaurant opening on the top floor of the property will also receive a new look and concept with respect to Aalto’s architecture under the guidance of Tuominen. The gorgeous views of the sea and the Helsinki city centre from the roof terrace add to the unique atmosphere of the new restaurant.

“The top floor of Aalto’s Sugar Cube with its terrace – it is difficult to imagine a more gorgeous spot for a restaurant in Helsinki! I am very proud and excited about getting to be the restaurateur of the first restaurant open to the public in this legendary building. The restaurant’s business idea will surely defy expectations, but we still aim to respect the great legacy of the building,” says Tuominen.

Tuominen is the only Finnish chef and restaurateur with two Michelin stars, one for Finnjävel and another for Demo.
